Should I stay, Or Should I go?

By Kaylee Foote

The 95th Hopkinton State Fair has come and gone. This year there were a few new attractions such as a new ride called “Remix.” There was also a dog jumping competition where the dogs jumped into a pool of water and the dog with the furthest jump wins.

Also, many old attractions drew huge crowds as well, such as the Free Cycle Bikes and Skateboarders. But the main event, like every other year, was still the demolition derby. When asked, Chris Saville of Webster said, “The demo was my favorite part because I got to be with friends and family.” It was also Saville’s first time going to the Hopkinton State Fair and he said, “It was amazing.”

The fair is the one time of the year where you can go to one place and see many different animals. Many people go to see pigs, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, chickens, geese, etc. Some animals were for sale, whereas others just for show. During the five-day fair there were many different events going on involving the animals. There were horse shows, goat shows, cattle pulling and even a swine show.

The quality of the food at the fair was good and you could choose from pizza, funnel cakes, Italian sausages and more. Whenever you were hungry, there was always food in supply that would satisfy your needs. As well as food, there was also a large variety of drinks: any type of soda you wanted, smoothies, lemonade, and even milk shakes.

While the majority of the people love the fair and try to go every year, there are others that do not go. Bre Ostrander of Contoocook says, “The fair is a waste of time and money.” She believes that “if you have been to the fair once, you do not need to ever go again.”

  1. I just though you could revise this sentence;

    "There was also a dog jumping competition where the dogs jumped into a pool of water and the dog with the furthest jump wins."

    I think you should polish this up, and make it a bit more professional. Try looking up the name of the competition, and how it defines itself.
